NEEA Named as a Top Supplier for Sears Holdings

Sears Holdings Recognizes Top Suppliers as True Partners in Market Transformation

Portland, OR- May 22, 2013 – Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), a unique alliance representing Northwest utilities and energy efficiency organizations, announced today it was named a 2013 Partner in Transformation for Sears Holdings Corp. NEEA received the award in the category of “Service Innovation and Exceptional In-Store/Online Member Experience Creation” for its collaborative work with Sears Holdings to introduce and promote energy-efficient heat pump water heaters to Northwest consumers in 2012.

Sears Holdings presented the prestigious Partners in Transformation award to a select group of supplier companies that excel in supporting the transformation of Sears Holdings through innovation around the Shop Your WaySM program, core retail excellence, and financial and operational discipline. Of the more than 30,000 suppliers that work with Sears Holdings, less than one half of one percent had the privilege of receiving this award.

“The Partners in Transformation award recognizes our top-performing suppliers as true partners that support our transformation in becoming a leader in integrated retail,” said Edward S. Lampert, Sears Holdings’ chairman and chief executive officer. “They provide the quality products, services and experiences that exceed the expectations of our Shop Your Way members, and enable us to build successful, meaningful relationships with them. Through our continued collaboration, we will be able to more effectively leverage the breadth of our portfolio and the power of our brands to meet our members’ and customers’ needs.”

NEEA and Sears worked closely to bundle promotions, utilize a full range of communication channels to their mutual customer base, and leverage relationships with General Electric and Kenmore, the two brands offering qualifying heat pump water heaters. This collaboration has already yielded significant results. Sears Holdings had approximately a 580 percent market lift relative to the rest of the nation.

“NEEA is honored to accept this award on behalf of our Northwest utilities and other energy efficiency partners in the Northwest,” said Susan E. Stratton, executive director of NEEA. “Collaborating with Sears Holdings is crucial to our work in transforming the market by introducing new, energy-efficient technologies and promoting them to the broader market.”

Sears Holdings selects the Partners in Transformation recipients from nominations from Sears Holdings' associates who purchased goods and services from suppliers.
