Washington Commercial Code Evaluation Information for Participants

Find out the basics of the Washington Commercial Code Evaluation that is currently underway.

The Washington Commercial Code Evaluation (WCCE) is a study of energy efficiency in newly constructed commercial buildings within the state of Washington. If your company has been contacted about participating in the WCCE, please refer to the FAQ below or contact Steve Phoutrides at (503) 688-5488 or sphoutrides@NEEA.org.

The WCCE study will assess the degree to which code is present in newly constructed /newly occupied buildings, as well as to estimate these buildings’ energy performance. The results of the study will provide direction to the development and implementation efforts of the NEEA codes team and provide other regional code stakeholders guidance in targeting their energy efficiency work in the commercial new construction sector.

This study involves gathering information from on-site assessments at locations which have agreed to participate. Cadmus and its partner firms will collect information on energy-using equipment and building characteristics that affect energy consumption. Site technicians will also report on various energy efficiency opportunities throughout each participating building.

Each participating business will receive:

  • A gift card (up to $250 value) based on the size of your facility
  • A site-specific report (market value of $3000) with the results of the WCCE assessment (if you choose to consent the collection of your utility billing data)
  • An identification number for a drawing to receive a $2500 incentive (About 100 buildings are expected to participate in this exciting research study and the drawing)

  • Fish-eye-view-high-rise-buildings
