October 3, 2023 - At this Product Council meeting, speakers walked the audience through their product line for communicating to smart devices in the consumer's home and commercial markets (Water Heating, HVAC, EV Charging, Batteries, White Goods, Pool Pumps and Solar Inverters.) Each speaker addressed challenges and opportunities, provided real examples of pilots and programs they are implementing, and explained the benefits to the utilities for flexible load management to smart appliances individually and in aggregation. Speakers discussed what getting to scale looks like, as well as what an aggregator can do in support of utilities, as these resources are developed. Discussions included a look at the near and long-term security and aggregation of devices over time and considered whether these resources are as reliable as they appear in shaping our future renewable grid.
