Understanding the workforce landscape for industrialized construction products and practices
The industrialized
construction sector is rapidly growing in the PNW, and it has the potential for
energy, time, cost, and carbon savings. The ID+CL will present a large mixed
methods research study, which was conducted with the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory (NREL) and Dodge Construction. The purpose of this research was to
gain subject matter expertise on how the construction labor market might shift
with the acceleration of modular construction. Data were collected from key
stakeholders within industrialized construction, including modular
manufacturers, general contractors, developers, labor unions or laborers, and
workforce training organizations.
