As new commercial Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) products enter the market, monitoring their field performance is critical to ensure proper design, installation, and maintenance, and that energy savings are actualized. EcoDash, Ecotope’s online data viewing tool, provides a standardized, open-source platform for sharing measurement and verification (M&V) data aligned with the Advanced Water Heating Specification guidelines. EcoDash is both a research tool and a means to communicate performance metrics project stakeholders to help them make meaningful comparisons across different installations. While M&V plays a critical role in enhancing product performance, informing design guidance, and advancing industry standards, its complexity necessitates a standardized approach. EcoDash incorporates standards set by the Advanced Water Heating Specification and enables users to visualize minute-by-minute operational data, assess system performance, and proactively identify when a system may need maintenance or control adjustments. EcoDash’s strategies are designed to accelerate industry advancements from M&V and promote a cohesive approach to measurement and verification. This session will showcase examples of HPWH system improvements that were identified using EcoDash and demonstrate how it is currently being used to assess system performance and test load shifting strategies in central HPWH plants.
