This Long Term Monitoring & Tracking (LTMT) report, prepared by The Cadmus Group, presents the 2019 findings for NEEA’s Building Commissioning Initiative which promoted commissioning from 1999 to 2004, and entered LTMT in 2005. The 2019 LTMT report: (1) Updates the number of Northwest commissioning firms; (2) Estimates the total floor area of new and existing commissioned commercial space; and (3) Determines new and existing building market size and the resulting market penetration of commissioning.
The 2019 study found that 97 commissioning firms were active in the Northwest. Market penetration of new building commissioning decreased from 75% in 2018 to 64% in 2019 for the region as a whole driven by both an increase in new building square footage and a decrease in commissioning activity. However, Montana saw an increase in commissioning activity. Market penetration of existing building commissioning for the region increased from 0.70% to 1.21%.
