This Long-Term Monitoring and Tracking (LTMT) report, prepared by The Cadmus Group, presents the 2020 findings for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (NEEA) Building Commissioning Initiative which promoted commissioning from 1999 to 2004, and entered LTMT in 2005. The 2020 LTMT report: (1) Updates the number of Northwest commissioning firms; (2) Estimates the total floor area of new and existing commissioned commercial space; and (3) Determines new and existing building market size and the resulting market penetration of commissioning.
The 2020 study found that market penetration of new building commissioning in the Northwest increased from 64% in 2019 to 79% in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, while the market penetration of existing building commissioning decreased from 1.2% to 1.1%.
