Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (NEEA) Luminaire Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) market transformation program integrates controls and sensors into the luminaire to offer an improved lighting experience. NEEA contracted with Energy 350 to review the approach to estimating savings from LLLC sales data submitted by distributors.
The knowledge of the building type where LLLCs are installed is a critical input to estimate savings from LLLCs accurately. Information about building type is limited in the LLLC sales data that NEEA currently receives. This report presents the findings of a review of the savings modeling methodology for LLLCs. The report validates NEEA’s model assumption that assigns a building type of “office” to all buildings for which the building type is not known from the distributor sales data. Additionally, Energy 350 recommends NEEA apply different savings rates to LLLC installations in retrofit applications versus installations in new construction.
