In order to design effective interventions in the installations of high efficiency gas HVAC and water heaters, NEEA hired ILLUME Advising to shed light on installers’ process in selling and installing water heaters and HVAC systems, and how the market and supply chain affect these decisions. Through a series of mixed mode research efforts, including ride alongs and on-site interviews, ILLUME was able to create profiles of installers and distributors that highlight the experiences, challenges and perspectives of these market actors.
