Understanding the Importance of Energy Efficiency in the Home Purchase Process

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) is a non-profit organization working to effect market transformation through the acceleration and adoption of energy-efficient products, services, and practices. Northwest ENERGY STAR® Homes, an initiative of NEEA, is a regional program in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, intended to promote the construction of energy-efficient homes using the guidelines set forth by the EPA. These certified homes offer energy-efficient features and increased comfort, and they are at least 15% more efficient than homes built to existing state building codes. To date, over 20,000 homes have been certified through the program.
