Displacing CAC with ASHPs for a Dual Fuel Energy Cost Savings

June 20, 2023 – The modeling study discussed during this Product Council session seeks to understand energy and costs savings from Air-Sourced Heat Pumps (ASHP), including single-speed, variable speed, and cold climate models, as central air conditioning (CAC) replacements across a variety of representative applications in the Northwest region. Cost savings from ASHP depend on the relative costs of natural gas and electricity, and the research estimates costs savings in relation to ASHP type and operations (namely switchover temperature).
