Federal minimum standards are changing for manufactured (mobile) homes, but the dust has not settled yet. In preparation for this the Northwest Energy Efficient Manufactured Home (NEEM) program and NEEA have been exploring what contractors need and how retailers can help motivate customers to purchase a NEEM certified home that comes ready for upgrade to a heat pump. This Product Council will highlight for the contractor the industry engagement and refinement on specifications for reducing the cost of a heat pump installation before it leaves the factory. In addition we will cover requirements for the manufacturer tax credits enabled by the Inflation Reduction Act. The goal is to enable factories to build to a NEEM specification and be eligible for a $2500 or $5000 tax credit for ENERGYSTAR or DOE Zero Energy Ready certification respectively once a heat pump is installed in the field.
