Repeatability, Testing, and Rating of HRV and ERV Technologies using CSA SPE-18:24

Sponsored by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) and conducted by Purdue University, this study evaluated the new CSA SPE-18:24 testing standard for Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs) and Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) by testing four commercial products representing major HRV/ERV technologies. The objectives were to assess test repeatability, develop seasonal performance models, evaluate leakage testing methods, and provide recommendations to improve the testing standard. The study produced concluded that SPE-18 is highly repeatable and reliable.
