NEEA Q4 2020 Emerging Technology Newsletter

2020 finished strong with plenty of projects starting or wrapping up. A couple of reports were published during the last quarter that are available for download from neea.org.

  • Combi Gas Products: “Combi System Field Trial”
  • Clothes Washers: "Coming Clean: Revealing the Real-World Efficiency of Clothes Washers"

2021 is off to a fast start and there are several technologies that NEEA staff are interested in testing. Please let us know if you have interest in participating in any of the following studies:

  • Field sites needed for testing a Machine Learning (ML) control product from BrainboxAI. The site must be a commercial building greater than 100,000 square feet with BACnet control.
  • Variable speed heat pumps using the CSA-EX-07 test procedure – looking for help from other organizations to add more lab and field test sites.
  • Field sites needed for testing non-glass secondary windows. These products are likely to be much cheaper than glass alternatives, and we are interested in how occupants perceive them in situ.
  • Field sites needed for testing commercial integrated heat pump water heaters. We are looking for sites that have a level use of hot water despite the impacts of the pandemic.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions on our emerging technology work. We’d love to hear from you.
