Q2 2024 was notable for final rules for Federal standards with 11 final rules completed in this quarter alone. The completion of the consumer water heater rule constituted the single largest energy-saving Federal standard in the history of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (U.S. DOE’s) program; it holds the potential for more than 300 aMW of savings in the Northwest alone.

Meanwhile in the Northwest, with recently adopted energy codes in Washington and Oregon and the 2024 IECC code development process completed, the codes processes are gearing up to start again in Washington. The Washington commercial energy code is currently in active development.
