NEEA Q3 2021 Codes and Standards Newsletter

Q3 2021 saw a flurry of activity for the NEEA codes and standards team as well as on the state and national stages. The Washington State Energy Code Technical Advisory Group (TAG) completed a series of meetings reviewing code change proposals and made final recommendations to the State Building Code Council. The International Code Council (ICC) kicked off the code change process for the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and started conducting committee meetings. The U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) continued to issue proposed rulemakings at an increased rate on a range of commercial and consumer products.

In addition, NEEA welcomed two new staff to the codes and standards team—Nicky Dunbar and Kevin Rose. Nicky transferred over from the Product Management emerging technologies team and will focus on federal standards and rulemakings. Kevin joins NEEA from the East Coast and will focus on state and federal building energy codes. Welcome to the team, Nicky and Kevin!
